Each year brings another round of Christmas music, as artists and fans celebrate this distinctly musical holiday with yet more Christmas music to enjoy. This year finds Mariah Carey and Michael Bublé vying for the top spot, with “All I Want For Christmas Is You” (a Carey original) and “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” (Bublé’s cover of the circa-1951 classic).
Michael Bublé is not alone in covering a traditional Christmas song — far from it. We worked with FiveThirtyEight, the Nate Silver-led data-driven publication, to find out exactly which songs have been covered the most by virtue of having the most versions on Spotify, which now classifies over 1.3 million tracks as Christmas music.
